We make quilts for anyone who served in the military during wartime.  They can be active duty or retired.

Why did you decide to work on behalf of this organization?

Unless people have someone who has served in the military, most people don’t realize the sacrifices veterans and their families have made and make every day for our freedom. When I thought about how much veterans give — time, courage, hard work, even their lives — I felt that the least I could do is help make a quilt for them to say thank you.

What accomplishments are you most proud of as a member of this organization?

Last year South Carolina Quilts of Valor gave 3114 quilts to veterans!  We did this with no outside funding, relying only on donations. Groups come from all over the state to help us make these quilts. They bring covered dishes and have lunch. But you don’t have to know how to sew to help us with our work. Volunteers can cut material, write thank you notes, etc. There’s always so much to do!

What sets you apart from other organizations that people might support?

100 % of all donations go to making quilts.  The quilts are 100% made with love and gratitude by volunteers.

Do you have any other info to share?

Veterans can request a quilt by going to the website at QOVF.org and filling out an application. If someone would like to make a donation, help make a quilt, or help with other tasks, please join us every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Quilts of Valor building (old library). For more information, I can be contacted at 803-664-1348.
