Why did you decide to join this club?
Our slogan is “Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service.” My parents were involved for a long time, and I felt it would give me the opportunity to make people’s lives better.
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
We provide a lot of services, in fact we provided 1700 hours of community service last year. We do thing such as Christmas in July, when we give out canned goods, dry goods, fresh fruits, and needed items such as tooth brushes, toilet paper and anything else needed to shut-ins and the elderly. These items are donated by the members of the community. Sometimes our visit with folks means the most to them and me. We assist the elderly with chores such as hauling away trash. My daughter helped install an air conditioner. Basically, anything we can do to make life easier for them. We adopt families at Thanksgiving providing dinner for their family and at Christmas we provide food as well as a gift they express they would like, something they can call their own. We provided 5 college scholarships last year, provided books to children which were personalized to each child. Each year we give monetary awards for essays to 5th grade students in 2 local schools. We take them to meet our state representative, and they can ask questions about government. All of our work is done through Project 52, which organizes fund raisers such as fish fries and the chicken bog we’re having Nov. 16. We do an Adopt-a-Highway twice a year, and this is coming up on Oct. 26. There are so many things we do that I’m proud of! “It’s people helping people to make life easier.”
What sets you apart from other organizations?
The many programs which we provide with funds given from the community.
Do you have any other info to share?
