thu27oct6:30 pmSC American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission Meeting - Sandy Run

Event Details

How will Calhoun County’s story of the American Revolution be told as the 250th Anniversary of the birth of our Country approaches?

Join this information session with Bill Davies, who is coordinating the creation of county committees in SC for the Commission. A Calhoun County 250 Committee is being formed that will celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution by recognizing and educating the public on local sites, stories, characters, and events, including free and enslaved African Americans, Native Americans, women, and children often forgotten in textbooks.

The aim in creating this committee is to tell all of these stories openly and honestly and to have diverse and inclusive representation from historical organizations, heritage groups, elected officials, and residents from all areas of the county. Individuals, groups, churches, schools, civic organizations, city and county government, teachers, students, armed services, local businesses, historians, and everyone are encouraged to attend this introductory meeting.

Dinner will be served, but RSVP is required.

Please RSVP to Diane 803-391-1465
