COVID TESTING
Free coronavirus test kits are now available.
Residential households in the U.S. can order one set of 4 free at-home tests from www.covid.gov/tests
DHEC recommends that all South Carolinians get regularly tested for COVID.
Free COVID testing is offered at:
- Calhoun County Health Department on Thursdays from 9 am – 4 pm
- Orangeburg Health Department Mondays – Thursdays and Saturdays from 9 am – 4 pm.
COVID VACCINE INFORMATION
Who is eligible to receive the COVID Vaccine?
South Carolina is following a phased COVID Vaccination Plan. The phases of this plan and updates on the vaccine rollout are posted on the SC DHEC COVID Vaccine Website.
As of July 2022 age of eligibility to receive the COVID vaccine is 6 months and up
The age for the Booster is 12 years and older. Parental consent is required for those aged 6 months through 15 years.

COVID RELATED FUNERAL EXPENSES
Starting April 12, 2021, individuals can apply for reimbursement for COVID related funeral expenses through a Federal Emergency Management Agency Funeral Assistance program. All applications are initiated by calling 844-684-6333 (9 am-9 pm Monday-Friday).

Several community organizations provide for immediate needs in the Calhoun County Area.
OCAB Energy and Food Assistance
The Calhoun County Department of Social Services offers assistance with electricity bills (up to $150.00 per 12-month period) funded by Calhoun Cares. To make an appointment, call 803-874-3384.
FOOD BANKS
The Department of Social Services is currently not operating a food pantry. Several churches operate food pantries in the county, however. If you need immediate food assistance, call the Library at 803-874-3389 for more information.
