2023-3-12 – SafeSitter Class Registration

Designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they are home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting.
 
The instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use manikins to practice rescue skills like choking rescue and CPR!
 
Class Information: Friday June 2, 2023 9am-2pm @ Calhoun County EMS (1736 Old State Road, Gaston, SC)

Calhoun County First Steps Board Announces Opening for Full-time Executive Director Position. Salary Range: $50,000 to $55,000. The ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or a related field, five years of experience in developing and managing nonprofit programs and services with an emphasis on early childhood programs; strong organizational, fiscal management and fundraising skills, supervisory experience and a knowledge of Calhoun County with the ability to establish strong, collaborative relationships in our community. General duties will include planning and managing activities related to the Boards’ strategies to strengthen families, improve children’s health and well-being, improve the quality of early education opportunities, and help transition rising Pre-K and kindergarteners into school. Plan your next family reunion at Heyward Park!!! We are now accepting rentals for picnic shelters!! Please contact our office at 803-655-7514 for more information!!! The park features 4 smaller picnic shelters and 2 larger picnic shelters. The park also features a playground, swing sets, tennis courts, basketball court, volleyball court, baseball field and a new horseshoe pit!!! Calhoun County is actively seeking individuals from the community who are interested in participating in a variety of boards and commissions.
Joining a board or commission is a way that citizens can volunteer and get involved with their local government. Boards and commissions serve mostly in an advisory capacity to various County departments but some also hear appeals, provide expertise, advocate, and advise County Council. Calhoun County seeks diversity and balance in making appointment decisions without regard to race, color, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, or disability.
